Hillcrest
Business Description
Hillcrest seeks to provide a stable, secure and supportive environment, in which the people they care for can develop the skills and confidence necessary to help them fulfill their potential. They do this by providing services in the following areas: children’s homes and education, foster care and learning disabilities services.
Project Description
A basic and rudimentary site had been in place for Hillcrest but as they grew the need for an up to date website was apparent.
The site itself is relatively complex given its size; the complexity comes from the need to represent the 3 services offered by Hillcrest. While a user navigates from one service to another the colour scheme needed to change to make it clear which service is being viewed.
A dynamic news section was needed which would feed into the home page and an editable jobs section was required. Hillcrest also wanted an interactive location map with hover effects.
Solution
A complex file structure was created for this site to allow for the changing colour scheme and the fact that the site is content managed with dynamic sub pages added to challenge.
A fully customised jobs module was built to allow the client to create job lists assigned to a given location. Multiple contact forms were placed for each service including an online application form for foster care.
A map for each service was created which was interactive and location specific with hover effects.
Result
To create an eye catching first impression we used Flash in the banner, which is different for each service. The colour scheme changes with minimal effect on loading speed and adds another dimension to its ease of use.
The interactive map uses the latest technology to help the user find services specific to location. It has a hover effect to enhance the user experience and make navigating through the site a little more interesting.
The jobs section is completely manageable via the CMS and was built as a completely bespoke module. The client has the ability to add jobs to the website and allocate any location, in turn the jobs are sorted alphabetically by location.
