Sports, Leisure and Culture
Business Description
SLC is a new business owned by Duncan Wood-Allum. Duncan has worked in the sport, leisure and culture sector since the age of 17.
He has developed a reputation for innovation, community engagement and operational excellence. By the age of 25 he had project managed the development of multi million pound leisure facility and was innovating in the fields of sport, arts and leisure development.
Project Description
To get things moving, Duncan wanted a full branding solution that not only promoted the business but also Duncan as an individual. The brand solution needed to have full synergy to ensure both Duncan and the company would be recognised as a company but also as individual entities.
In October 2009, Duncan began a long trip around the world to promote his services and present his thoughts and aims to some of the most important people in his sector. In order to promote the trip and also start building a platform for the SLC Consultancy, Duncan wanted to develop a website that was fresh, dynamic and easy to update. Duncan wanted to tap into social networking tools to communicate his aims and objectives and wanted Strawberrysoup to provide a solution that could grow and evolve during his trip around the world and into the future.
The website needed to be able to develop into other avenues on Duncan's return to the UK. A modular approach was essential to ensure the website could be added to as and when required.
Solution
After a number of brainstorming meetings to ensure we were covering all aspects of SLC's requirements, we managed to develop an online concept that would fulfil all aspects of the brief. We designed a website that was simple yet functional, dynamic yet easy to manage. Through the use of a number of social networking websites as well as a number of JavaScript and AJAX techniques, we were able to develop a website that looked clean and light without the need to leave any of the core business information out.
The StrawberrySystem content management system was used to allow Duncan to edit and update all general page content. A combination of a VOX blogging engine, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and Google Maps was then used to give the website the dynamic online networking vibe that was required. By integrating these various online tools, Duncan was able to update and edit key areas of the website where ever he was in the world.
Google API was used to allow Duncan to plot his way around the world and promote events that he was both attending and speaking at.
