This ‘wearable book’ prototype gives a whole new meaning to immersing yourself in a story and feeling what the protagonist feels.
MIT Academics have created this ‘Sensory Fiction’, four-dimensional, digitally-augmented book.
‘The girl who was plugged in’ is the first wearable book which changes ambient lighting and vibrations to match the mood of each page, while the vest emits contains temperature controls, a body compression system, a ‘heartbeat and shiver’ simulator and emits sound. Changes in the protagonist’s emotional or physical states throughout the story trigger feedback in the vest. Cool idea if not a little creepy!
