A national charity funding scientific research focusing on curing breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Campaign have been at the centre of the fight to cure breast cancer since 1988. To date they have put over £50m into research fighting a disease that will affect over 50,000 women every year, and of which 12,000 will lose their battle.
We helped Sideshow with the digital elements of the wider campaign, including website design and development and a bespoke fundraising jigsaw app.
An effective online platform is a crucial element in any charity’s fundraising and awareness campaign. Every user really counts, as each visitor is a potential donor, researcher, partner or an individual affected by breast cancer. We added the requirement for the site to be responsive to avoid any issues that could occur with the huge variation of devices that are available.
Timeframes were tight for delivery and we needed to use existing Drupal site as a base for the build. This had the advantage of eliminating the need for new content to be added from scratch, and a build on an already robust and tested platform.
Our development team created a new Drupal theme with blocks and components that could then be installed into the existing base. This included some new, custom functionality as well as coding the new look and layout.
As an added challenge we were asked to design and develop an engaging fundraising mechanism for launch during Breast Cancer Awareness month, October 2013.
The brand utilises a vibrant colour palette and advocates inventive use of their puzzle piece icon which we worked hard to bring through into the elements of the site. During planning we also took particular care in defining specific user requirements to ensure we launched the most effective structure for the site.
The app invites donors to purchase a puzzle piece for a donation £2 or more. This piece is then personalised with their Facebook profile image and a message or thought which can be displayed with it.
We continue to work with Breast Cancer Campaign both with their digital requirements as well as on a strategic and marketing level. We are very proud to be given the opportunity to support such a crucial campaign.
