Management organisation for an ‘Area of Outstanding Beauty’ comprising miles of West Sussex coastline.
Chichester Harbour Conservancy is a very longstanding client of ours. The organisation looks after the area in which our Chichester Studio operates, so when it came to producing something special for them we jumped at the chance. To celebrate their 40th Anniversary they were looking to find a way in which they could display the relationship they have with the local environment and the local community digitally. We worked with their marketing team to develop the idea of a site based around a map onto which users could ‘pin’ memories, images and even video.
Once the idea was set in stone, our design and development teams worked closely to decide which technologies would be suitable and the best way of tying it all together. We were conscious that the site needed to be very easy to use as a large section of the target audience with the most interesting tales to tell may not be very computer literate. The site focussed around the process of how to upload memories and then featured different ways of browsing the whole collection.
We are very proud of this project for many reasons. It uses innovative techniques to create an engaging experience and generates interaction within the community creating a collaborative or crowdsourced narrative for the area. This, we feel, is a great example of how a strong concept or idea can partner design and development to create something truly unique and useful.
