With a significant volume of business via retailers, we helped Kit Heath solve a business-critical challenge with the design and build of a fully-responsive a B2B-oriented eCommerce platform that would help the business scale trade ordering online.

The challenge

The main objective of the new website was to create to create a robust and simple to use trade ordering portal that would not only encourage repeat orders and increase brand loyalty with retailers but also streamline operational processes and significantly reduce administrative overhead.

The site needed to cater for the fundamental requirements of a multi-territory trade ordering platform. Catering for the UK and US-based trade customers, the site would require a streamlined interface for ease of product search and availability lookup, customer specific pricing and the ability to order or reserve stock allocation – all integrated with the legacy backend systems in place which differed across regions.

The solution

Magento was selected as the platform of choice due to its robustness, scalability and requisite flexibility to cater for enterprise-level, multi-territory B2B e-commerce.

The system allows third-party retailers can now create accounts themselves or have Kit Heath’s trade sales representatives register accounts for retailers on their behalf.

The multi-site management allows the Kit Heath team to maintain localised site content for each country variant, including inventory, pricing and with each region linked to separate stock systems and ERP software.

The results

Adoption of the platform by retailers has seen a steady increase in the proportion of trade orders being processed via the online platform.

The ease of use and intuitive reordering tool based on purchase history and favourites has helped to streamline the ordering process for retailers, with a greater retention of repeat business as a result.
